One by one the pupil could handle, touch the ropes and feel the instrument vibration

3rd Research Meeting 05/16/2005 – Starting from a muscial piece the pupils start to develop body movements

Starting from na improvisation for contrabass, the pupils started to develop the first body movements. In this meeting was observed there was the possibility that, even without hearing the contrabass, but feeling it, they could make coreografias together and organized rythimic movements in group. We started there the firts part of the musical coreografia.

4th Research Meeting 05/23/2005 – Capturing sound vibrations through cinestesia the pupils created new rythimic movements

Catching soundvibrations through the kinaesthesis the pupils was creating new rhythmic movements always followed by contrabass improvisation, giving continuity to the creation of the first part of the first musical choreography.

 




In this day, the group of pupils was invited to attend the essay of the group, intended to awake their interest for music and create, since now, a closer relation with the instrument. Was observed a great interest and attention of the pupils group for the research.

It was clearly observed the will of hearing the instrument, wich awake stil more their sensibility.

5th Research Meeting 05/302005 – The pupils with dificulties received individual attention

It started to be developed the second part of the first choreography with a group of pupils, always from improvisations for contrabass. A part of the group was sure of the movements and felt more easiness the contrabass vibrations. Already the pupils who presented difficulties had individual attention. It was observed that all of them made question to show, between them, that they were capable to understand very well what they were feeling

6th Research Meeting 06/06/2005 – It was initiated investigations about possibilities of perception of sound by boys group and the contrabass frequencies that was more sensible.

The boys group enters in contact with the bass player, handled the ropes and all parts of instrument and touches the ropes, looking for feeling instrument vibrations. It was observed that the pupils are more sensible to the lowest contrabass frequencies. After congregating a group of three pupils, I asked them to touch the ropes and trie to express what they felt. All of them was unanimous in expressing bigger sensitivity to the ropes lower. In a determined moment, I played the contrabass, increased its volume in 50% and touched strong in the more acute ropes. I asked them to try feelling the vibrations. Again, I touched the contrabass, but this time with lower volume 50% and I only touched weakker in the ropes lower, so they had been more sensible to the lower vibrations.

It was also realized a new assay with the group of pupils. In this meeting, the interest for the research was evidenced. It was told by the pupils group that they had congregated themselves during the week, in its interval time, and had argued and shown some movements and suggestions for the next meeting. With much persistence they had presented the new movements that had been very creative.

7th research meeting 06/14/2005 – The boys group started to perceive the diferences between Mi, Fá, Sol

I created a methodology to emphasize the boys sensitivity to the vibration of the lower ropes, in which they must differentiate notes (Mi, Fa and So). When I touch the Mi rope, they raised a finger. When I touch a Fa in Mi rope, they raised two fingers. When I touched a So in Mi rope, they raised three fingers.
Start then to touch these three notes in alternating form so that the pupils identify, from the vibration, the difference between them. The result was incredible!
For being more sensible, the pupils do not demonstrate difficulties. Quickly, they differentiate Mi the Fa and the So notes, indicating for me the felt notes, from its numeration. In this meeting we received the visit from the student of Journalism Carlos Baumgarten

8th Research Meeting 07/042005 – working the body balance, group work, motor coordination and sound perception

In this meeting we initiated the first part of the second musical choreography.
After making a small meeting between them, the pupils catched some cloths and made several demonstrations of what they wanted, with much more animation. I marked the rhythm and created a small music for the choreography. The compositions have several parts in which the pupils can express balance, work in group, motor coordination and perception of the sound. They possess certain difficulty in hugging, touching. In the choreography, we look for this too.


After that the work with the pupils group was developed. I emphasized through the methodology created in 7th meeting to the sensitivity for the ropes vibration lower, in which they would differentiate notes (Mi, Fa and So). In this meeting we received one more time the visit from the journalism student Carlos Baumgarten.
A signal was created by the pupils for me: the fingers raised thumb and minimum and making touching gesture

9th research meeting 07/25/2005 – The pupils are in the presentation expectation, happy and believing in their potential.

In this meeting was realized only assays with the objectiv to make the last correction for the pupils group presentation at CEEBA.

10th Research Meeting 07/26/2005 – First presentations live – CEEBA Audience

The pupíls presented very well!!!
We realize our first presentation. In the auditorium, CEEBA, CAS/Wilson Lins, Instituto Pestalozzi pupils, parents and teachers.

11th Research Meeting 08/29/2005 – We introduce the pause knoledgement.

From an improvisation, the pupils made rhythmic movements, standing in the pauses.

In these meeting it was realized only assays for the last corrections for the girls group presentation in Secretaria de Educação do Municipio (Education Municipal Secretariat)

14th Research Meeting 09/10/2005 – 2nd live presentation – Theatre of the Educations Municipal Secretariat

"Joel Moncorvo went up to the stage beside the girls. First music played was a subject, in which they put themselves into motion, in accordance with the vibration of the contrabass lower ropes, obeying the composition rhythm. The girls move themselves perfectly!
The second music was very diferente, Joel started to develop Slap technichs in the contrabass and the pupils..."

15th research meeting 10/19/2005 – Theoretical lesson

Recognition of musical notes in the contrabass arm with both groups. In this meeting I created an education methodology so that the pupils could identify musical notes in the arm of the contrabass.

 

 

 

Assays of corporal expression with the pupils group. It continued the search of new movements.

16th Research Meeting 11/28/2005 – Assay, evaluation and reflection

Through the Brazilian Language of the Signals (POUNDS), Joel Moncorvo with the aid of the teacher of deafness carriers Elza Portugal, promoted a chat with the pupils, in which was discussed the pleasure to make part of the group and what this is reflecting in day-by-day.

17th Research Meeting 12/16/2005 – 3rd live presentation – Wilson Lins School

We realize our third live presentation.

In the auditorium, CEEBA, CAS/Wilson Lins, Pestalozzi Institute pupils, parents and professors of the institutions. Once more the pupils presented very well, moving to all with the new movements

18th research meeting 03/20/2006 – day-by-day pupils music

During the meeting, Joel and the teacher of deaf people Elza Portugal, harvested information of how music acts in the pupils daily life.

Joel explain: “I conclude that the pupils does not perceive the melody but feel the vibration and have rythim perception. More slow the music, mor its perception”

19th research meeting 04/29/2006 – 4th live presentation – Integral school Anfitheatre – special participation in Workshow Giants Meeting with Felipe Andreoli and Joel Moncorvo

20th Research Meeting 05/08/2006 - Evaluation

During this meeting Joel congregated with the pupils and Professor Elza Portugal to film and make a new evaluation of the research.

21th research meeting 08/26/2006 – 5th live presentation – São José Theater

We realize our fifth live presentation in São José Theatre.
